See The Presidential Candidate of the G-5 Governors

The G-5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, have traveled the world, engaged in anti-party activities such as making unguarded remarks against their party to garner attention, negotiating presidential candidates of rival parties, and openly courting the leaders of opposition parties. However, they have not yet shown the courage to publicly announced their choice of presidential candidate.

Governors Wike, Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State broke off their relationship with Atiku Abubakar, their presidential candidate, over Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s refusal to step down as the party’s national chairman in favor of a southerner.

When news broke last month that the G-5 had settled their differences with Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, Nigerians, especially their fans, had been waiting for a public statement from Wike’s team.

However, the “fearless” group that had sworn to stand up for “justice and fairness” hasn’t had the guts to announce their choice in public.

While Wike and Makinde apparently agreed to openly work for Tinubu, Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu reportedly decided to do so covertly in order to appease the Labour Party (LPmembers, )’s who have the power to thwart their political aspirations in the South-East.

Contrarily, Ortom chose to work for Obi. However, nobody has made any declarations in public. Even Ortom admitted that he would not run Obi’s campaign because he is a PDP member in his press release endorsing Obi.

Despite being present to welcome Tinubu for the APC presidential campaign in the state on Wednesday, Ugwuanyi reportedly said nothing to indicate to his supporters that the former governor of Lagos State is his top pick.

So where is the “courage” of the G-5 Governors to oppose “injustice”? Many people think that the governor’s are just looking out for themselves.
