The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has a good chance of winning in the South-East geopolitical zone, according to party leaders and stakeholders in the region.
The majority of the states in South-East were once under the influence of the former ruling party, but currently just two of the five states -Abia and Enugu- are under its control.
However, stakeholders in the South-East PDP have begun honing the techniques they’ll use to deliver the zone to the candidate running for president in the presidential election set for February 25, 2023.
The stakeholders announced that Atiku will win the South-East with ease after a strategy meeting was held Tuesday night at the rural house of Senator Theodore Orji, the South-east Coordinator of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council.
The stakeholders pledged to do everything in their power to mobilize voters in the zone to ensure a landslide victory for the former vice president, whom they referred to as a friend of Ndigbo, in order to make it possible.
In the general election of 2023, they urged Ndigbo to support PDP candidates to the fullest extent possible since, under PDP, the South-east will receive the proper national status.
In his opening remarks, Senator Orji remembered that South-East had always been a bulwark of support for the PDP adding that he was sure the tradition would be maintained.
Orji, a two-term governor of Abia, asserts that Atiku has better chances in the Southeast because of his experience, qualifications and proven capability for national unification.
Senator Orji’s assertion that Atiku has what it takes to help Nigeria out of its current socio-economic problems was backed up by Dr. Adolphus Wabara, a former Senate President and current acting chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).
Wabara reassured Ndigbo that they greatly benefit from having a part in the project while urging the South-east to give Atiku-Okowa presidential campaign their full support.
