Tinubu, Wike’s unholy marriage will not last beyond 2024 – APC chieftain Eze

The erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has hinted that the political romance between President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike will collapse in the fullness of time.

Eze said this in a statement made available to the media in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, on Monday

He said the political alliance between the duo clearly contravenes every recognised standard of sound politics and is founded on immorality.

Their relationship, according to him, grossly distorts the ethical contents of politics and political liberalism.

Speaking on the appointment of undeserving persons from Rivers State into ministries and boards, the party chieftain said the reward system has been disproportionately tilted against qualified and deserving members of the Rivers APC who committed time and materials to calm hydra-headed intra-party rivalry and instill stability in the face of very stiff and ambitious opposition.

He said the actions of the President, which according to him clearly add legitimacy to the brewing trend of political harlotry, have heightened growing concerns of infidelity and other unsavoury practices among players in the political playground.

He said it is unfortunate to watch the sad reality of the continued decimation and stifling of those who sacrificed their lives to set up APC in Rivers State while those in PDP and avowed enemies of the progressive family in Rivers State are being empowered by Tinubu, the leader of an APC-led Federal Government.

“Former Governor Wike fought tirelessly to frustrate Rivers APC, and the lives of some members were lost in the process, but today, the same character who derided and even insulted Tinubu has been rewarded and appointed a Minister by an APC-led Federal Government and further given the power to nominate those who sided with him to destroy APC in Rivers State into agencies and boards,” Eze said.

He alleged that Wike has nominated and ensured the appointment of non-members of APC into federal government agencies, including Frank Owhor (North East Development Commission), Mr Boma IIyaye, and Chief Tony Okocha, respectively, Director of Finance and Administration and board member of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Eze was optimistic that trustworthy APC members would rally around each other to ensure the plot to destroy APC in Rivers State would not see the light of day.

The APC chieftain affirmed that Tinubu’s ‘romance’ with Wike will not last till the end of 2024.

“If Wike can today turn against Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, his benefactor who appointed him his chief of staff when he was the governor of Rivers State and later nominated him minister, one then wonders the depth of Wike’s relationship with Tinubu that he will not stab him in the back.

“If he could discard Senator Magnus Abe, whom he used like a misguided leader to truncate the fortunes of the Rivers State APC, then Tinubu should wait and see what happens by 2024.

“What he did to Atiku, whom he once described as the leader of leaders, is still a matter of discourse in some high places in this country and abroad,” he articulated.
