No fewer than 10 people have tragically lost their lives, and seven others were successfully rescued following a building collapse in Jegede Olorunsogo, located in the Ona Ara local government area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The incident reportedly took place at 2 a.m. on Thursday.
Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services, confirmed the occurrence, stating that they received emergency calls from local residents at that time.
“I would like to inform you that the Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a distress call around 2 a.m. from the Jegede Olunloyo area in Ibadan, where ten individuals have been recovered from the rubble of the collapsed structure, and seven individuals were rescued alive.”
Rescue operation is still ongoing at the time of filing this information.
